The third issue is out and the ending is quite a shocker.
Following the events after issue #2, Carol receives a call from Tom Kalmaku and was surprised to see on TV on a recent news update that Hal is back as Green Lantern and with Sinestro.
Sinestro then discussed with Hal the reason why Hal should help him, that is to do the right thing and the right thing is to free Korugar from slavery from the Sinestro Corps. Hal agrees.
In Oa, the Guardians checks the condition of Ganthet. Ganthet is now deprived of any emotions. After recalling that their previous creations (Manhunters and the Green Lantern Corps) bear faults, the Guardians then came into a decision to create a third army.
On their way to Korugar, Sinestro explains how they will stop the Sinestro Corps. That is for Sinestro to get all of the Corps attention while Hal (with Sinestro’s green power battery)sneaks inside the central Yellow Power Battery. Once inside, the Green Power Battery will shut off the central Yellow Power Battery thus shutting off the yellow power rings.
The plan is that they wait until until sunset before they carry out their plans. But when Sinestro saw Arsona attacking a Sinestro Corps, he launched a one-man attack against the entire Corps. This qued Hal to proceed with his mission. But as soon as he got inside the central Yellow Power Battery, Hal disintegrated… end of story.
My Review:
Personally, of course, Hal is still alive (or would come back to life, whatever). It is all part of the storyline. Nevertheless how he would comeback from this is something to look forward to. Another thing to anticipate is the third army that the Guardians are planning to. Machines… Living beings… What’s next?
Another thing I have noticed in this issue is Sinestro’s character. He had definitely gone soft when it comes to his homeplanet, very different from the 60’s character that personally supressed his fellow Korugarians. But perhaps this is all part of the New 52 concept.
Story is good. Art is good. Always have something to look ahead to for the next issue.
